Centro Ybor hosts "A-Roar-Yborealis: A Night of Stars on Mars", in celebration of the HCC Festival of Moving Images For Immediate Release Centro Ybor Hosts HCC Ybor Festival of Moving Image Extravaganza TAMPA- (February 19, 2004)- Centro Ybor hosts "A-Roar-Yborealis: A Night of Stars on Mars", in celebration of the HCC Festival of Moving Images on March 18, 2004 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. taking place throughout Centro Ybor's plaza area. Visiting New York City performance artist Pat Oleszko will present the one and only original performance "A-Roar-Yborealis: A Night of Stars on Mars", created especially for the festival, a title inspired by the sky-lit setting of Centro Ybor Plaza and the robots currently roving Mars. Oleszko is creating the performance with 40 other visiting filmmakers, HCC students, and area performers. Oleszko was recently a resident artist at the American Academy Rome and is known for outrageous performances and illustrating a peculiar wit. Known as the "Ms Tricks of Dis Guise", Oleszko has a large body of work, which includes lithe performances utilizing elaborate costumes and props, films and installations. "A-Roar-Yborealis is an important aspect of the Moving Image Festival because it brings together professional artists such as Ms. Oleszko and HCC students and allows the students the experience of creating a quality original work. Additionally, performing in a public space is intended to bring attention back to Ybor as a 'center' for the arts to flourish" says David Audet, Festival Director. The HCC Festival of Moving Images takes place March 14 – 21, 2004 in Ybor City. This week long event offers innovative film and video works from area, regional and national artists. With unique live performances, art installations, panel discussions, forums and special events attendees are sure to be stimulated and inspired by film, video and digital imagery, and its history, past, present and future. With events taking place on the HCC campus and throughout the historic district of Ybor City, attendees will also gain a new perspective on the spirit, culture and architecture that has made Ybor City unique and inspirational to the Tampa community.
