Melitta USA announces receipt of the American Corporate Identity 21 Award of Excellence in the Package Design category. Clearwater, FL (May 26, 2005) – Melitta USA announces receipt of the American Corporate Identity 21 Award of Excellence in the Package Design category. Melitta’s winning World Harvest design was created by Hughes Design Group in Norwalk, Conn. More than 4,000 firms throughout the United States entered their designs into the competition’s seven categories. "We are very pleased to receive this prestigious award," said Melitta USA CEO Marty Miller. "As we continue to grow Melitta’s World Harvest presence in the marketplace, it is vitally important that we create a package design that will draw the consumer’s eye to our product to garner interest in the exceptional taste and quality of our coffees. This award signifies that we are capturing attention and this is the goal of good packaging." The annual American Corporate Identity competition showcases outstanding work currently in use in today’s businesses. Entries are accepted from large and small firms from throughout the country. Each submission must be in current use by a business, institution, individual, non-profit group, etc., doing business in the U.S. Unlike many other competitions that judge one piece of work against the other, the American Corporate Identity judges each submission, based on individual excellence of the work, against a high standard of excellence. Award winners and groundbreaking designs from each of the categories – package designs, trademark/logo design, complete corporate identity programs, corporate ID manuals, letterhead design, signage and environmental graphics, and corporate image brochures – are featured in a hard-bound annual that is distributed to more than 60 countries worldwide. The U.S. headquarters for Melitta is located in Clearwater, Florida and is part of the privately held Melitta Group in Minden, Germany. Melitta's North American manufacturing operations are geographically dispersed. All coffee roasting and packaging is done in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Filter paper and non-electric coffeemaking systems are manufactured in Clearwater, Florida. Melitta electrics and accessories are manufactured, marketed, and distributed under a licensing agreement with Salton. For more information, visit www.melitta.com.
